Where does your book take place? Give evidence from the book, quotes and page numbers.
When does your book take place? Give evidence from the book, quotes and page numbers. How would it change the story if your book took place in Adams, MN today? Be specific and write what exactly would differ. How would the story stay the same? Be specific and write what exactly would stay the same. Place the characters of your book into a different setting and write a creative story using your characters as the main characters in the story. We are looking for creativity and an interesting plot.
Discuss your predictions about the book with your group and create a list of predictions along with the evidence supporting your prediction. You should make 4-8 predictions with evidence.
For example: I predict Walk Two Moons will be about walking around in moccasins. The evidence for this is that on the cover of the book there is a pair of moccasins and the title of the book has the word "walk." Write a 100 word synopsis of your book. Use the word count on Word to get exactly 100 words. Proofread for spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Make sure to include all of the important events and characters from your story.
**Your Choice** Each person in the group can work on their own synopsis and post separately. We are limited by the number of devices we have, so not everyone will be able to do this.
Find a place in the book where a character has each of these feelings. Write a sentence telling about it and the use a quote from the book to prove your statement. Example: Kenny felt surprised when he met Corn Flake. Page 31 "But I was kind of surprised that God would send a saver to me in such raggedy clothes." Choose one of your characters. Uh-oh, he or she just got caught committing a major crime. Worse yet - it's all over the newspaper, and everyone's reading about it!
With your group, write a creative-yet-believable newspaper story that tells what your character did, why s/he did it, how s/he did it, the punishment, etc. To be in the running for first-to-lunch, you need to include quotes from a variety of people, include more than one of your book's characters in the article, and there needs to be creativity, but not craziness. Roses are red, violets are blue, when you write a great poem your teachers will love you! Blog #62/16/2018 Write a poem about your book.
It needs to rhyme and be at least 10 lines long with at least 5 words per line. We are looking for creativity and relation to your book. At first I thought (describe something from the book), but now I think.... (You should revise one of your group's predictions.)
This part (describe a part of the book) is really saying... (describe the underlying meaning of some part of the book.) This character thought/did/said this____, but now that character thinks/says/does... (How is a character in the book changing?) Next, write a creative paragraph(s) describing a fun way that your conflict COULD be resolved. Remember to describe the book's conflict in your paragraph.
